Ken Follet – Biography of Ken Follet

Born June 5, 1949. He is a British writer of thrillers and historical novels. His parents were Martin and Veenie. He grew up in Cardiff Wales and stayed there until the family moved to London at the age of ten.

When his parents disagreed with him going to the movies and watching television, being those devout Christians, that’s when he became interested in reading. However, in his student days he was normal in his performance until his adolescence.

He entered the University College of London, in 1967, where he studied philosophy. He married Mary, his first wife, in 1968.

Upon graduation in 1970, he enrolled in a journalism course and got a job as a reporter at the South Wales Echo from Cardiff. Later he left journalism for editing, becoming in 1970 in Deputy Director of Everest Books Management.

He also started writing stories. First as a hobby. Until in 1978 he published Island of storms which gave him international fame. So every novel he has written has been recognized, awarded and many of them made into a movie.

Among his legacy of works are: The Modighani scandal Y Paper money. He also wrote Island of storms. Five more books subsequently followed. Those were works that had suspense variations. Other novels are The man from St. Petersburg, The wings of the eagle Y The valley of the lions.

As it happened with Frederick forsyth, a former journalist turned novelist, Follet’s early works emphasize how the plot unfolds. So we have The key is in Rebecca Y The island of storms.

In a second phase of Follet’s career, a series of four historical novels written in the late 1980s and early 1990s featured The pillars of the earth, which happens in medieval England. He also wrote Night over the waters, which was a story that took place inside a transatlantic seaplane, which was flying from Great Britain to New York at the time of World War II.

His last novel was The fall of the giants, which was published successively in 19 countries. Which deals with the story of five families in the times of the First World War, the Russian Revolution and the struggle of men and women for their rights.

It belongs to the first installment of The Trilogy of the Century, and the second novel will come to light this 2012, which will deal with the experiences of the children of the characters of The fall of the giants, at the time of the Great Depression of 1929, as well as World War II. Finally, it is estimated that the third book will be published in 2014, which will deal with the people who experienced the Cold War.
