Jorge Garbajosa – Biography of Jorge Garbajosa

Jorge Garbajosa, was born in 1977 in Torrejón de Ardoz, Madrid.

He is known by some friends as “the injury man” or “the eternal rookie”.

Serves as Power forward Y Small Forward having a height of 2.06 meters and weighing about 110 kilos approximately.

When he was 16 he was called from the club Taugres Vitoria (formerly called Tau Ceramic), abandoned his first team, the Youth Alcalá and moving from the city of Madrid.

With this team he made his debut on ABC and grew as a player. After the first season of adaptation, he managed to win in the Spanish Junior Championship and, the following year, he achieved European cup (95-96).

Year after year, he was gaining confidence, enriching himself in his game and forming part of the regulars in the starting quintets of the Vitoria team. In the 97/98 season he achieved the League runner-up and I reach the Copa del Rey in 1999.

By the year 2000, he had already started receiving multiple offers from different teams like the Real Madrid, Pau Orthez Y Benetton Treviso.

Finally, he decided on this last Italian team, commanded by Mike D`Antoni, as a way to advance in your quality of player. Thus, after 7 years with the Spanish team, he moved to Italy and managed to achieve several titles, including twice the Italian Cup (2002-2003 and 2003-2004). Also, in the 2002-2003 season, he was runner-up in the European League. In this team, he would play for four seasons.

During 2004, he returned to Spain and got married. There he joined the team Unicaja of Malaga, which would be made up of Sergio Scariolo around him.
Thanks to his talented skills, he soon became a local idol by landing the Copa del Rey in its first season (2004-2005).

The following year, he obtained the title of the League and the personal honor of being named “MVP”In the final, and thus become part of the Ideal Quintet of the ABC.
