Actor Jorge del Río was born on November 27, 1975 in Oviedo, in the Principality of Asturias. He is also a playwright and director.
He is above all a theater actor, who has not only acted in more than 100 plays, but has directed and written quite a few of them. In addition to acting, Jorge studied classical ballet and singing.
His beginnings took place in the Julissa Company, at a very young age, as well as in the Enrique Alonso Children’s Theater Company and in some children’s programs.
On stage, he began with works such as “Vaseline” or “Jesus Christ Superstar”, which was followed by many others, among which we will highlight “Love in reverse is Rome”, Mutatis Mutandis ”,“ The last days of Emmanuel Kant ”or“ Suite ” , among many.
Another facet of Jorge is to be highlighted, the opera. The actor, indeed, has participated in a large number of operas, operettas and zarzuelas, working alongside such important figures as Plácido Domingo or María Conesa.
As for the big screen, it is a medium in which the actor has not worked, and only his participation in a film, in 2002, “Cosa de brujas”, stands out.
Regarding television, which is in fact the medium that has given him popularity despite his extensive theatrical career, he has worked on some series. His debut took place in the year 2000 when he participated in “When leaving class” and “Police, in the heart of the street.”
The following year he worked in “Police investigation” and “Journalists”, and in 2004 in “Diez en Ibiza”. The popularity came to him especially in 2005, when he joined the successful series “Amar en tiempo revolstos”. Later, in 2008 he also played a role in the series “Lalola”.
The actor won the Rainbow Prize awarded by the Union of Theater Critics and Chroniclers for his role in the play “La corte del Faraón”, as well as the Prize for the best monologue for a play written by himself, “A scene, Gómez ”.
