Jeremy irons was born in 1948 in Cowes, Isle of Wight, in the United Kingdom. Son of Paul Dugan Irons, by profession accountant and Barbara Anne Bereton Brymer Sharpe, a housewife. He has a brother named Christopher.
I study in the Sherbone School in Dorset from 1962 to 1966, where he achieved some fame as a drummer and harmonica musician within the school band called Four Pillars of Wisdom. Later he studied acting in Bristol Old Vic Theater School.
Jeremy began his career as a stage actor, working on numerous plays before appearing in London theater as John the baptist Y Judas, next to David essex on “Godspell”, A work that reached a total of 1128 presentations. He also worked for the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1976 (and then 1986-87). In 1984, Irons made its debut in Broadway on “The Real Thing” next to Glenn Close, performance for which he won an award Tony.
His first works for British television date back to the early ’70s, when he participated in the series “The Pallisers” Y “Love for lydiaLater his television career continued with the filming of several feature films made especially for this medium, and different productions of the BBC.
Currently Irons is the protagonist of the new historical series “The Borgias“, playing the patriarch of the dark and powerful family of the Italian Renaissance.
His film debut came from the hand of “Njinsky”In 1980. a year later he worked with Meryl streep in the film “The French Lieutenant’s Woman”. Her career continued in different films throughout the 1980s as the winner of the Golden palm from Cannes and recognized “The Mission”(1986) in which he acted with Robert De Niro, Aidan quinn Y Liam Neeson.
In the ’90s, he won an award Oscar as best actor for the film “Reversal of Fortune”(1990), with Glenn Close Y Annabella sciorra. His credits continued in films such as “Kafka”(1991); “Damage“(1993) and”The House of the Spirits”(1993), acting again together with Glenn Close Y Meryl streep and in which they also appeared Winona ryder Y Antonio Banderas. In 1994, he lent his voice for the role of Scar in the animated movie of Disney “The lion king”.
Other films of this decade were “Crystal jungle. The revenge”(1995), the work of Bernardo Bertolucci, “Stolen beauty“(1996), the remake of”Lolita”(1997) starring Dominique swain and next to Melanie Griffith; and the book version of Alexander dumas, The man in the iron mask”(1998) with prominent actors such as John malkovich, Leonardo Dicaprio, Gerard De Pardieu Y Gabriel byrne.
Already in the new millennium, it could be seen in titles such as “The merchant of Venice“(2004), in which he met again with John malkovich; “Casanova”(2005), as the co-star of Heath ledger; “The kingdom of heaven”(2005) a film by Ridley scott, where he shared a screen with Liam Neeson, Orlando Bloom, Brendan gleeson Y Edward Norton; “Eragon“(2006) or”The pink panther 2“(2009).
Jeremy has dedicated himself, within his career to other branches of cinematographic and musical art, directing music videos and performances and even singing himself.
In his personal life, he is married to the Irish actress Sinead Cusack and has two children Samuel James, who is a photographer and Maximilian paul, which appeared in the 2006 campaign of Burberry.
He currently resides in Watlington, and has a residence in Henley on Thames, Oxfordshire; in addition to a castle in Ireland, called Kilcoe Castle.
Since 2002, it has sponsored the Thomley Activity Center, a help center for disabled children.
