Also in a survey carried out in 2005, among the more than 20 thousand readers of the magazines Prospect from the UK and Foreign Policy from the United States, was chosen as the most influential Latino internationally (location 13 out of 100).
Among his career, it is remarkable that he was a member of the General Agreement on Tariffs, Customs and Trade (GATT), President of the Executive Committee of the Organization of Copper Exporting Countries (CIPEC), Managing Director of the Universal Enginnering Corporation, among other important positions.
Currently Hernando de Soto and his ILD people are designing and implementing capital formation programs for the homeless in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and the countries of the former Soviet Union.
