German Burgos was one of the most iconic and controversial soccer goalkeepers of the late ’90s in River plate. He subsequently traveled to Europe, but retired from soccer to become a Rock Star.

Germán Adrián Ramón Burgos was born on April 16, 1969 in Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Both his childhood and adolescence were spent in this city, calmly and always training as a goalkeeper in various local soccer teams. Back then he was dating his high school girlfriend, Sandra, with whom he later married. Today they have three children: Sasha, Florence Y Luca.

Soccer History:

He began his career as a goalkeeper playing in Florida from Mar del Plata, a third division team in which he was seen by coaches of Western Railway who decided to hire him shortly after.

His debut in the first division was the September 3, 1989 in the party that Ferro lost with Newell’s 1 to 0. It was not a great start for the goalkeeper, but this did not prevent him from continuing to rise in both experience and charisma.

In 1994 was booked to play with River plate, a team that gave him great affection and all the support of the people. It was here that due to his ungainly appearance and height (1.88 mts) he was nicknamed “Monkey”.

In nineteen ninety five Burgos made his debut in the Argentina Soccer Team and was a starting and substitute goalkeeper in the World Cups France ’98 Y Japan 2002. He was a companion of great players such as Batistuta, Aimar, Verón, Caniggia, Saviola, Crespo, Ayala, Sorín, Zanetti, among others.

In 1999 left River to play in the Majorca from Spain where he played two seasons. At this stage in his football career, Burgos began to think about leaving football since his musical inclinations were stronger.

In the 2001 signed with him Atlético de Madrid. There his appearances became more sporadic to finally retire for the season. 2003/04.

Musical History:

In 1992 Burgos formed a cover band with Oscar Kamienomosky, guitarist. At that moment, “monkey” cut off in Ferro. With other friends completing the group they played songs by the Rolling Stones, Paranoid Mice, Pappo and other bands.

In 1994 other musicians joined and formed “Sympathy” whose first album, “Check the King”, was featured in December 1998 and went on sale in June 1999.

Then in the 2000, they recorded “Fasolera de Tribunes”.

The 2002 he found it in Madrid, so he changed the line-up and the name and was renamed “The Garbs” in honor of the archer’s initials.

The December 26, 2002 presented the third CD “Hot Lines”, in a recital in Madrid. By now the band was playing much heavier rock.
