German Montaner – Biography of German Montaner

The actor Germán Montaner was born on February 25, 1935 in Valencia.

His family was from the town of Paterna, in the province of Valencia, and they formed a true saga of theater actors, since Germán was the fourth generation dedicated to acting.

His professional debut took place, as it could not be less, on stage, at the beginning of the 1950s. At that time the actor represented a large number of theatrical works in different theaters of the city of Valencia, such as the Talia Theater or the Alkazar Theater.

The number of works starring the actor is innumerable, impossible to be related all here. We only have to bear in mind that for 40 years he dedicated himself only to the theater, since, although he participated in other media such as film and television, this did not happen until the 90s.

In the cinema, his debut could not have been better, since it took place at the hands of Luis García Berlanga, in 1993, with the movie “Todos a la prison”. Later he did some more, and, although he does not have a very large filmography, it is true that the films in which he participated are of quality, such as “Tranvía a la Malvarrosa” by José Luis García Sánchez, “El milagro de P. Tinto ”By Javier Fresser, with whom he would also later shoot La gran aventura de Mortadelo y Filemón,“ Flores de otro mundo ”by Icíar Bollaín and Torremolinos 73 by Pablo Berger.

As for television, the actor did little work in that medium, his first participation in it being in 1994, in the series “Farmacia de Guardia”. Later he also participated in “Ay Señor, Señor” and in “Manos a la obra”.

Among the awards and recognitions granted to Germán, we will highlight the Tirant Award for the best supporting actor for his work in the film El milagro de P. Tinto.

Germán Montaner passed away on January 31, 2004.
