Facebook sends its developer analytics reports regularly to administrators and analysts that were then provided by device testers. 2018 Facebook hasn’t been good. With privacy infringements contentious software launches Product analytics report sent to the company’s administrators analysts and developers were sent by mistake to app testers. The device testers, however, were able to view only a review of the study and were unable to access information about individual apps. The study included data on 3 per cent of the apps available on the website of the organization. App testers are often outsiders and should not receive such analytics reports, as they may contain important confidential business information to app competitors. One of the developers told Facebook that an outsider was able to access the weekly report. Facebook later confirmed it was an internal error caused by the email delivery system. The social media company said no personal or contact information was leaked and alerted to the developers that are affected. Facebook has modified the email distribution system to ensure that such events do not occur in the future, but developers are not too satisfied with the incident. With the social media company reporting that as of 2017 there are over one million applications on the web, even a data breach of 3 percent of the users is a big deal.
