The actress Elvira Quintillá was born on September 10, 1928 in Barcelona.
Her professional debut took place in the theater in 1941. From here on, she began to perform a large number of plays, working in various companies, some of them highly prestigious, such as Conchita Montes’. He has starred in works such as “When the day comes”, “The seagull” or “The vested interests”.
In 1943 he made his jump to the cinema, by the hand of director Ignacio F. Iquino, with the film “End of course”. From here, the actress shoots about 40 films.
His filmography stands out for the fact that, despite not being one of those that can be considered as very extensive, it does contain some of the most outstanding titles in the history of our cinema, such as “That happy couple”, Plácido, “Magic concert” o The hive.
Special mention deserves his work in one of the most prestigious films of the time, Welcome Mr. Marshall, directed by Luis García Berlanga. Elvira’s role in this film, in which she plays Miss Eloísa, the village teacher, was so remarkable that many viewers will always remember her for this character.
In the 1960s, he consolidated and increased his popularity when he began to appear on the small screen, forming part of the cast of some of the most successful series of the moment, such as “Third Left”, “School of Husbands”, “El olivar de Atocha ”and others, which made her a familiar and familiar face to viewers of that time.
Among the awards received by the actress we can highlight that twice she won the Best Supporting Actress Award granted by the Circle of Cinematographic Writers, for her work in the films “Permanent Court” and “The Guardian of Paradise”, in the years 1954 and 1956 respectively. He also has to his credit the First Prize for Interpretation of the 2nd Benidorm Festival, in 1960.
Regarding her private life, it should be noted that she was married, since 1947, to the excellent and prestigious actor José María Rodero.
