Diana Lewis – Biography of Diana Lewis

Actress Diana Lewis was born on September 18, 1919, in New Jersey, in the United States.

With only 14 years of age, the film director Frank Tuttle gave him an opportunity to intervene in a small role in the movie “Let’s Remember Those Hours.”

For a time he participated in feature films in minor roles, until the director Norman Z. McLeod, offered him a more relevant role in the movie “It’s a gift”, where he plays the character of Miss Dunk.

In 1935 she married Jay Raye, with whom she was united for a few years, specifically until 1939, when they divorced.

In the following years, her roles continued to be small, although some of her characters stood out a lot, despite the fact that the actress was still very young.

In the 1940s, the actress began taking part in the film The Marx Brothers in the West or “Bitter Sweet”, the latter with Jeanette MacDonald, in 1940.

In this same year 1940, the actress married William Powell, with whom she lived until 1984, when William died.

In 1941, the actress played the role of Judy Sanford in the film “Forbidden Path”, along with Lana Turner and Robert Taylor.

In 1942, the actress got a more relevant role, it was in the film “Wistling in Dixie”, where she played the character of Ellamae Downs, along with actress Ann Rutherford.

In 1943, he appeared in his last film, “Cry ‘Havoc’”, where he played Nydia, along with actresses Margaret Sullavan and Joan Blondell.

That same year Diana stopped acting on the big screen, retiring to live with her husband William Powell and his son, at Rancho Mirage.

On January 18, 1997, Diana dies as a result of pancreatic cancer.
