I realize a lot of Black women are suffering and letting down by what I said and what I didn’t say. “He then added,” I hear you I support you and appreciate you. I’m sorry and I love you here. I spoke from my own personal point of view without first taking anybody else’s perspective into consideration. “Crews added in a tweet” I allowed disrespectful comments directed to me and my family to cause me to react angrily rather than to reply thoughtfully. A frightening hypothesis 4/4.933 4/4.933 Figure 2 Anakin Skywalker CinemaBlend announced that, earlier this year, Hayden Christensen and Ian McDiarmid (the actor best known for playing the villainous Emperor Palpatine) visited a children’s hospital in Salt Lake City to meet fans. Many claim that this act of kindness served as a marketing tactic for the new film which meant that Hayden Christensen could take up his role as Anakin. Soon after Disney cancelled a panel at a fan convention that included the two actors. This led some to conclude that the Walt Disney Company did not want to draw any attention to Christensen in order to keep a mystery about his role in the new film. If Christensen was part of another franchise this sort of speculation could be a ludicrous touch. Nevertheless death is not final in the apparent revival of the Obi-Wan KenobiPalpatine in the trailers for The Rise of Skywalker the franchise has made it clear that it is no great feat for Jedi Knights and Sith Lords to cheat death.
4/4.934 4/4.934 Figure 3 Star Wars: The return of the Jedi Anakin would of course raise some interesting questions. First of all why is it that he’d just come back from the grave now? Nothing else has happened in the three decades or so since his death which was worth his time? In Return of the Jedi, he specifically worked out how to transform himself into a ghost so it’s not as if he’d just found out how to rise from the dead. Are there unique prerequisites for a Jedi to become a ghost the franchise hasn’t yet revealed to the public? In addition, if Christensen reprises Anakin Skywalker’s role that would mean that his ghost form resembles what he looked like when he was a young man. This would be perfect if not because they distinctly resembled their older self when Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi returned as Ghosts of the Force. Why does Anakin become a young-looking ghost when Obi-Wan has an older-looking ghost to be? Does Jedis get any knowledge of what the afterlife looks like? Eight states are proposing legislation that will prohibit the use of wearables such as Glass while driving and Google is lobbying officials in at least three states to avoid the regulations. Google Glass is essentially a small computer screen in a glass-lens corner. Although wearable technology is thought to reflect the next big shift in technology, much remains unknown about how the increasing prevalence of devices such as smart glasses and smartwatches will impact our daily lives. Many are worried that devices such as Glass can easily confuse drivers leading to more car accidents. There are regulations now prohibiting the use of smartphones while driving and broad efforts to educate the public about the risks of texting while driving. There were 3328 deaths caused by distracted driving collisions in 2012 according to Distraction.gov. Having your mobile attached to your face would make it even harder to avoid checking your email or text while on the road if people are already having a hard time not checking their phones while driving. Reuters noticed that Google has sent lobbyists to speak to Illinois Delaware and Missouri lawmakers. New York Maryland and West Virginia officials said they have not yet been contacted by Google, and those behind similar bills in New Jersey and Wyoming have not replied to a request from Reuters for comment. Senator Ira Silverstein (D-Ill.) was not pleased by Google’s claims against his bill claiming that the purpose of the organization is driven by profit over general safety issues. He told Reuters that Google’s app is obviously moving towards sale to the general public and should be monitored as something that will soon be made available to consumers. One could perhaps use Glass to navigate Google Maps, but the temptation to connect with the app in other ways would be greater, needing more effort to resist with a computer that puts the screen right in your line of sight. There are smartphone apps available that stop phones from receiving or sending text messages while the phone is in a moving car that may be something that could be mounted by Google on Glass to ensure that Glass users can only use navigation devices when driving. Just last month, a woman from California had a driving ticket while wearing Google Glass rejected by a court in San Diego per CNN. The case
was the first traffic ticket ever issued relating to driving and wearing Glass and was dismissed on the grounds that it was impossible to say that the gadget was on when the woman was driving beyond a reasonable doubt. Lawmakers try to fix this issue by banning Glass from being worn behind the wheel at all. In a statement to CNN at the time, Google said that “Glass is designed to connect you more with the world around you and not separate you from it. The system is able to determine the amount of force being exerted by a consumer by calculating the attenuated reflection of infrarot light between the infrared emitters and the infrared detectors.
