Due to the profession of her father who was a medical surgeon, she and her family soon moved to the United Kingdom and later spent many years in Rhodesia, known today as Zimbabwe.
When he was old enough to carry out higher studies, he enrolled in medical school, but it would be a short time before he decided to leave it, due to the great vocation he felt for the theater.
In the fifties, Dana makes her debut in English cinema and is discovered by an agent who proposes that she travel to the United States to try her luck in the world of cinema, theater and television.
In Hollywood the actress would have her first participation in the adventure film called The fearsome Mocker shot in 1952 by the director Robert Siodmak. In this film he shared roles with the actor Burt lancaster and it was there that he changed his name to Dagna Wynter.
Twelve months later, she would be seen in the movie again The Knights of King Arthur who directed Richard Thorpe and that it was presented with a quite medieval atmosphere.
It was after that film production that she definitely changed her stage name and decided to call herself Dana.
It would be the year 1956 when Dana manages to perform one of her best roles in the science fiction film titled Invasion of the body thieves, this time she was the protagonist and acted alongside Kevin McCarthy.
A new offer will arrive in 1957, this time Dana would work alongside Rock hudson on Blood on the earth, this new film was shot under the orders of Richard Brooks. Later it appears in Lights of rebellion next to James cagney, in the leading role.
The new decade of the sixties was good and novel for Wynter, since he could appear in several episodes of series quite tuned at that time such as “The Virginario”, “The Alfred Hitchcock Time”, “Hawaii 5-0”, and the very remembered the “Super agent 86”.
The cinema continued to give him more roles and in 1960 he acted for the Lewis Gilbert film entitled Sink the Bismark !. Later it appears in The last of the list, and in The pact of the scoundrels of 1968.
In the seventies, the job offers were decreasing and he decided to retire from the industry in the middle of the decade after participating in My man is a savage which was shot in 1975. This was a French-Italian production directed by Jean-Paul Rappeneau and starring Catherine Denueve already Yves Montand.
Regarding her love life, this actress got to marry the lawyer Greg bautzer becoming a mother to her son whom she named Mark.
Due to a series of heart problems that seriously impaired his health, Dana Wynter passed away at the age of 79, the May 5, 2011, suffered a cardiac arrest.
