Albert was born in Eger Hungary in 1937 to the son of Olga Weisz, a clothing store manager, and Albert Kiss, a customs official. His studies in Hungary were interrupted by the 1956 Hungarian Revolution which led him to Austria afterwards. While in Vienna he saw films from the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) for the first time which impressed him greatly. On March 1957 he arrived in Montreal Quebec Canada with the book Film Kultura by Bela Balazs under his arm.He had died of cancer at the Toronto General Hospital in October 2015. He was Katalin Futo with his partner of 21 years. From an earlier marriage he had two sons Bert and Colin, and two grandsons Aris and Ryan. Bert Kish died sadly on May 24th 2017. The absence was also deeply felt by peers and friends of the family. As he passed away there was an outpouring of messages of condolence from friends and fans who would surely miss him. Friends have identified him as one of the sweetest and most loving person they met, reiterating the fact that his death was deeply felt. Sadly, the cause of his death has not been revealed to the public; but it is known that he died almost two years after his father Albert died on 23 October 2015. Albert died after suffering from cancer in Toronto General Hospital. One thing for sure is that both Albert and Bert Kish’s legacy will continue to live on due to their tenacity and enthusiasm for hard work. Link
