Biography:Carly Elisabeth Simon was born on June 25, 1945 in New York.
In the early sixties Carly with her sister Lucy formed a duo called “The Simon Sisters”, which initially appeared in the bars of Greenwich Village in New York. The Simon sisters recorded two LPs, one of folk and the other of children’s songs. They were recognized with a hit that remained on the charts in April 1964, which was titled as “Winkin ‘Blinkin’ and Nod”. The duo did not last longer than the late sixties, at which point Carly Simon decides to start a solo career. So, he contacted Albert Grossman, Bob Dylan’s representative. This is how in his first steps he dedicated himself to composition with the film critic Jacob Brackman.
In 1971, converted into two incredible hits in the United States, two of his songs sounded, “That’s The Way I’ve Always Heard It Should Be” Y “Anticipation”, which were part of his first album called “Carly Simon”. His second work called it as his second famous single, “Anticipation”, which was accepted satisfactorily. Later, Carly with much more experience and the help of producer Richard Perry produces her third LP, which includes her most famous song: “You’re So Vain”, which is said to speak of Warren Beaty and / or Mick Jagger, who also sings in that song. “No Secrets”, his third full length and his most recognized work and it includes much of the best material of his career, including “The Right Thing To Do” which will hit the top 40. This album was so important that it was the reason for a Grammy for being the “Best New Artist of the Year”.
In 1972 Carly Simon married singer James Taylor with whom she also had a son. During the rest of the decade, Carly Simon showed an almost inexhaustible energy that led her to participate in anti-nuclear and peace concerts, in addition to her own promotional tours that led to the success of her latest album.
In 1974, his fourth album arrives which was “Top Ten Hotcakes” and which had his version of “Mockingbird” who sang with her husband. The song has become a gold record and behind it came “Haven’t Got Time for the Pain” which made it to the top 10 most popular songs.
Later, it arrives “Playing Possum” from 1975 and “Another Passenger” 1976, two albums that did not have the success they deserved.
In 1977, Simon was hired to perform the title theme for the James Bond film, “The Spy Who Loved Me”, which remained in the top ten most popular on the Billboard chart.
“Boys in the Trees”, It was his next album that went on sale in 1978, and it was also a gold record thanks to “You Belong to Me” already “Devoted to You” sung in duet with Taylor.
Without taking any unsuccessful step, his next albums called “Spy” from 1979 and “June” 1980, which unfortunately did not sell enough, despite the fact that the last one gave off “Jesse” a single that was a gold record.
In the month of October 1980, Simon had a faint from fatigue in the middle of a presentation, which has made his appearances in concert have been rare.
In 1986, came “Coming Around Again”, The theme of the movie “Heartburn”. In this same year he won the Grammy and the Oscar for “Let the River Run” of the movie “Working Girl” from 1988.
In 1990, Simon released an album of pop ballads in which he included a series of covers and which he titled “My Romance”. The following year, Clary wrote the third children’s book, “The fisherman’s song” based on the song of the same name from his 1990 album and, he also performed a duet with Plácido Domingo on the song “The last night of the world.”
In 1995, Simon presented his new album, from which a Christmas song emerges, and also at this same time surprised thousands of travelers at the Magnificent Central Station in New York.
The year 1997 comes hand in hand with the release of the third album of Simon’s standards, belonging to the film Noir, as well as the book of his fifth children, “Midnight Farm”. The following year, unfortunately Carly was diagnosed with breast cancer and received chemotherapy.
In the second millennium, she recorded the “Bedroom Ribbons”, his first album since his illness and his first album of original songs in almost six years. And also performed “Son of a Weapon” with Janet Jackson on the album “All from Jackson to you”. Simon then performed songs for the Disney big screen.
