Carlos Marchena placeholder image He was born on July 31, 1979 in Las Cabezas de San Juan, Province of Seville, Spain.
He is a Spanish footballer who works as a central defender, and his first team was the Sevillla fc.
It was formed in the lower divisions of the Sevilla FC since he was very young, and was valued for his great quality, performing as a center-back.
His official debut with the Sevilla first team took place in the 1997-1998 season, when he was only 18 years old.
This debut was favored by the fact that the team was in the second division.
After another spectacular campaign in the second division, they achieved the precious promotion to the first division.
The season in which said team returned to the top category, was not really good since the serious economic crisis of the club forced it to part with several players such as Marchena. After the consequent decline, Marchena was sold to Benfica.
After an acceptable season with said team, he was part of an exchange with the player Zlatko Zahovic and arrived at Valencia CF.
In the team, Marchena failed to be a starter, since he was behind Ayala and of Pellegrino in the team’s rotation, and decided to play more than one game as a defensive midfielder.
The following seasons continued to grow in his position, and also with his team they managed to win a league and a UEFA Cup.
However, in the 2005-2006 season he did not play enough games, since Raul Albiol became next to Ayala in the option preferred by the coach.
With the Spain Soccer Team his debut took place on August 21, 2002, in the game that Spain Y Hungary they equaled 1 goal.
