Billy cunningham He was born on June 3, 1943 in Brooklyn, New York, United States.

After demonstrating his qualities in the Brooklyn Institute, team where he was named best player in the league, was recruited by the University of North Carolina, where he got 24.3 points and 15.1 rebounds per game.
He also had several feats, such as in one game he scored 48 points and in another under 27 rebounds.

He was chosen in the seventh position of the first round of the 1965 draft for the Philadelphia 76ers, where it started as “Six Man”, gradually gaining ownership.

His peak was in the 1969-1970 season, where he achieved 26.1 points and 13.6 rebounds per game.
He won a title in 1967 with the Sixers playing with great figures like he was.

In 1972 it was sold to Carolina Cougars, of the league ABA, where he remained 1 season and a half, being MVP in 1973.
Later he returns to Philadelphia, where an injury forces him to retire at age 32.

As a coach he took charge of the Sixers in 1997, building an excellent team, with whom he won the title in 1983.
He is the fastest coach to reach 200, 300 and 400 wins in all of NBA history.
