Ariel Schulman – Biography of Ariel Schulman

The American Ariel schulmanBorn in 1979 in New York City, he is an actor, director and film producer, graduated in 2004 from the Film program of the Tisch School of the Arts, belonging to New York University.

Since then he has worked on more than 150 movies and music videos. His career includes works for MTV series, Michel Gondry, The White Stripes, Vodka Absolut, Plum Portraits, Plum TV, The Rapture and the Neistat brothers.

His first feature film was the documentary “Catfish”, in which he also acted together with his friend and partner Henry Joost. The film had many positive reviews and, made with a budget of just under a quarter of a million dollars, it raised more than 3 million of that currency.

In 2011 his name, and also that of Joost, became well known to the general public when they both directed the third installment of the series of films, transformed into a cult phenomenon, “Paranormal Activity 3”, another box office success that raised more than 100 million dollars during its exhibition.

His next work was a short documentary about the plastic artist and photographer John Baldessari, released in 2012; followed by “Paranormal Activity 4” (2012).

Schulman is a co-founder of Supermarché, Inc. and a founding member of Red Bucket Films, Inc.

The director continues to live in New York City and, together with Henry Joost, are currently working on an adaptation of Edward Abbey’s famous novel, “The Monkey Wrench Gang.” A documentary about the artist Tom Sachs is also planned.
