On June 26, 1954, the soccer player Arconada was born in San Sebastián, in Guipúzcoa, Spain.
Arconada was interested in playing football, from a very young age, in the goalkeeper demarcation, always standing out for his magnificent reflexes.
In 1970, when the goalkeeper was 15 years old, he was signed by SDLengokoak, the club in his city.
During that same year he was hired for the lower divisions of the Royal Society, to be promoted to the first team in 1974.
In those years they were regular goalkeepers for Real Sociedad Urruti and Artola, goalkeepers with great experience, which caused Arconada to be on the bench.
In 1975, Artola was signed by FC Barcelona, which would give Arconada the opportunity to prove his worth, and he did so when, in 1975, he played an EUFA Cup match against Liverpool.
Weeks later, Arconada managed to be the starting goalkeeper for Real Sociedad, and Urruti was signed by RCD Español.
In 1977, the goalkeeper managed to wear the shirt of the Spanish team, obtaining a runner-up in Europe.
Arconada got two Zamora trophies, for being the goalkeeper with the least thrashed of the season.
To his credit were 2 leagues, a Spanish Super Cup and a King’s Cup, all of them with Real Sociedad.
Like other goalkeepers, he too has been awarded a phrase “It’s okay, we have Arconada.” This phrase was said when the Real Sociedad team was awarded a penalty against.
From 1974 until he retired from football in 1989, the goalkeeper remained loyal to his club, Real Sociedad.
At present, Arconada is dedicated to private business and his name sounds a lot like a candidate for the presidency of the Royal Society.
