Yahoo Squirrel wants it to be the new and exciting messaging tool. The choice will be given to Yahoo Messenger users to access their six-month chat history to their phones or computers. The chats can not however be transferred to other messaging apps. In 1998 Yahoo Messenger was introduced as Yahoo Pager to provide users restricted to email and Sms with an alternative means of communication. The app became quite common as it was not connected to service providers and offered consumers an opportunity to communicate without being constrained by costly mobile carrier plans. It struggled to maintain its user base with messaging apps like WhatsApp and Facebook messenger making it big on Android and iOs Yahoo’s own messaging app.
