What to Expect from the September 2018 Apple Event?
In recent weeks we have seen details on some of the items expected to be announced at the upcoming Apple Gathering. These include the Apple Watch Series 4 new iPhone X successors an updated Mac Mini a thin-bezel iPad Pro and a range of accessories. Although anticipation is a good thing, let’s take a moment to see what we know so far, especially in the case of Apple.
Three iPhone X Successors As with most Apple events, the launch of new iPhones takes center stage in every year. Apple is heading for a triple whammy this time by launching three iPhone models that will succeed the current iPhone X. No doubt the flagship iPhones will come at a high price. Back in 2016 Apple launched the iPhone Se to reach a much broader range of customers. This phone took all of the components of an iPhone 6S and missed certain features like 3D touch and bundled it all in an iPhone 5 shell. New iPad Pro Models
At the September 12 Media Event, Apple is said to be updating itsiPad Promodels. The new iPad Pro will feature thin bezels and Face I d support in 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch models. They’ll also abandon the headphone jack and focus on a Lightning-to-3.5 mm connector instead. .418.418 An odd icon was found in one of the iOs 12 beta versions while thinking about thin bezels on the forthcoming iPad Pro. The icon depicts an all-new iPad style with minimal bezels and no top notch. This means that Apple may find a way to keep all the top-placed sensors still at the top, but without the notch we have on the iPhone X model at the moment. It’s predicted that the new AirPods would feature noise cancelation and hands-free Siri activation. A 19W fast charger for quick charging is also expected to be bundled with the new iPhones.
A New MacBook Model
You do know that some of the company’s machines need upgrade if you’re looking to buy an Apple-made laptop. At least that is what Bloomberg is saying, it seems the company is well aware of this. Apple plans to release a new MacBook model according to this publication which will combine the design elements and functionality of the current MacBook and MacBook Air. One possible explanation for this is the discontinuation of the current Air model in favor of a new entry-level Apple notebook. Figure 5 Business Insider courtesy graphic. Among other features of this upcoming notebook we expect to see an enhanced Usb-C Lightning ports butterfly keyboard system as well as a Retina high definition display. If the company succeeds in delivering all this for $1000 or less this could prove to be a very smart choice. Apple is currently in desperate need of delivering interesting products to educators and students. The MacBook Air currently available can not compete with what the company’s rivals are selling in this price range.
A New Mini Mac
It’s no secret that Apple spends a great deal of money in original programming. There have been rumors of a drama series based on the novels from the Foundation by Isaac Asimov. Since the Information Security Forum has its eyes on everything that happens in the cybersec field we wanted to find out more about what risks we are taking on how the world will change and more so we had a very interesting chat with Steve Durbin Isf, managing director. Steve Durbin: The speed and scope of threats to information security has continued to escalate over the past few years, undermining the credibility and legitimacy of today’s most respected multinational organisations. Businesses are struggling to cope with the quantum pace and sophistication of global cyber-attacks that organized cyber-crime syndicates are carrying out. In addition to exposing individuals ‘ personal data, the list of targets that we know have been successfully attacked in recent years provides a true Who’s Who of government business and technology including some of the most technically sophisticated organizations in the world. Moving forward companies of all sizes must be prepared to be attacked by multiple attackers at any time and place. Organizations seeking to keep pace with these changes and stay financially viable need to take action now, or face serious consequences. With the pace and scope of the environment security threat evolving on a daily basis those organizations that don’t plan will be left with substantial reputational and financial harm. TechNadu: In your view, what are some of the biggest threats to our safety for businesses but also for individual internet users these days? Steve Durbin: Criminal organizations should continue their growth and become ever more sophisticated. Some companies are going to have origins in traditional criminal networks while others are going to emerge based on cyber crime. Organizations will also struggle to keep up with this increased complexity and the effect will expand worldwide with malware in general and ransomware becoming the leading means of attack in particular. Email related attacks like spam and phishing (including targeted spear phishing) are most widely used to get an initial foothold on the computer of a victim. Cyber criminals behind ransomware should concentrate on smart and personal computers as a way to spread targeted malware attacks. TechNadu: We’ve seen an increase in both in-company sessions and some driven bug bounty initiatives across specialist platforms. What are your thoughts on these programmes? Do you think we’ll see more white hackers regularly now that there’s a chance to better monetize their talent? Then we’ll see fewer black hats or hackers who turned ethical due to bug bounties? TechNadu: The IoT industry continues to rise but, apart from some big-named firms, we do not see better safety in most of these goods. Numerous cybersecurity experts are calling for even governments to enforce some kind of legislation. Do you think this would be a good idea? Steve Durbin: Companies are embracing smart devices with enthusiasm, failing to realize that these systems are often design-insecure and thus present many opportunities for attackers. In addition, I expect the rapidly evolving IoT environment to be increasingly lacking in transparency with ambiguous terms and conditions that enable companies to use personal data in ways that customers did not intend to. Organizations may find it problematic to know what knowledge enters their networks or what is being secretly recorded and distributed by devices such as smart TVs or conference phones. If infringements occur or privacy violations are reported, companies will be held liable for insufficient data protection by regulators and consumers. The truth is that protection can be costly and those systems have never been constructed with safety in mind. They were created to give information and process it at the lowest possible cost. However, by maintaining an open connection to the home computer of the person (a system that can in effect be linked to the network of an employer), it provides a gateway for intruders to inflict damage that goes well beyond the home devices of the owner. Securing these devices could become an appropriate topic for government regulation. TechNadu: We’ve seen a rise in the incorporation of Artificial Intelligence (Ai) into our lives through different tools that we use, whether we’re talking about personal assistants or our security instruments. Ai has been debated so much in fact that the singularity of many fears is just around the corner (when the truth is, of course, very different). Would you think we need more implementations of Ai in our everyday lives or should we draw a line somewhere instead? Steve Durbin: Attackers should take advantage of breakthroughs in Ai in the coming years to develop malware that can learn from their surrounding environment and adjust to discover new vulnerability. Such malware can surpass human hackers ‘ output by revealing information including mission-critical information assets and causing organizational and reputational financial damage. Some believe Ai will bring tremendous benefits to society, particularly in areas such as science and healthcare. It will also be used in more destructive ways, however, one of which will be to build computer malware that can alter its type and purpose. Attackers will use this artificially intelligent software to find new ways to reach and interrupt the processes of an organization’s network. Mission-critical information assets such as trade secrets RD plans and business strategies will be vulnerability targets-all without detection. TechNadu: Recently the Isf released a new Blockchain security briefing paper. While the initial feeling was that blockchain could be quite secure, it does not seem to be the case necessarily. What are the risks, and what should companies looking to adopt this technology do to keep the data safe? Steve Durbin: The indelible and tangible record of Blockchain provides many benefits. But that record doesn’t protect blockchain from security issues. Blockchain is not as ‘ tried-and-tested ‘ as older technologies such as databases and directories that define security strengths and fix vulnerabilities over time. There are few individuals with extensive experience in protecting a blockchain network who are able to effectively recognize and handle security problems. There is no mechanism for settling disputes with transactions carried out directly between parties. Parties to a transaction, especially members of the public, may have less security than when using intermediaries such as payment services from credit card companies and banks who can aid in the event of a dispute and return money where fraud has been committed. As blockchain is put to various uses, cutting through the excitement is vital to understand its strengths and drawbacks. It may not always be the only solution to a problem after all; the databases of directories and other forms of data store still have importance. Although being at the forefront of embracing blockchain cautious companies may have a commercial advantage, it should be mindful that blockchain is unstable and unforeseen security issues that arise. Organizations should therefore put particular emphasis on determining the risks of designing or using blockchain technologies before investing in this innovative approach. TechNadu: Today, children grow up in a much more connected world than we did, but they also grow up surrounded by numerous dangers brought with them by the Internet and most parents don’t know what to do under these circumstances. How do parents better direct them through these challenges? Steve Durbin: I think the point is to create a safe and open climate. What I mean by that is that through our own activities we need to educate children to be safe online and to show them where things can go wrong. YouTube has some great videos talking about privacy and testing out websites to make sure they’re safe for kids to look around. It’s vital they know the need to keep private personal information names addresses, and so on. We need to avoid strangers and check that the places we visit are suitable. Whether we are thinking about an online or offline world, those are relatively similar. To parents, the biggest challenge is psychologically making the transition to a digital environment. I would also recommend that parents ensure that there are offline times where technology is simply put away and children remember that the environment still exists beyond cyberspace and that it can be just as fascinating or even more important than the cyberworld they are accessing through technology. Qualcomm ‘ Tricks ‘ Munich Court Into Banning Apple’s iPhone Models in Germany
ByBill Toulas-December 22, 2018.439 Qualcomm wins yet another court battle in Germany after sophisticated legal strategies were used. Apple will appeal the decision citing possibly biased judgment based on insufficient facts. All Apple iPhone modelsdid with the China injunction has been barred by the Munich Regional Court. What is interesting to note is that the Munich court ruling was based on the violation of a patent which was declared non-infringing by their Us counterparts. More specifically, an Itc (International Trade Commission) judge decided not to ban Apple products in the Us after reviewing the Qorvo chip schematics and deducting that there was no violation of the unique patent. With this in mind, Qualcomm set out a different plan for their Munich case not to reveal to the German court the schematics of the chip in question, as their European attorneys would not sign a non-disclosure agreement for the chip design. This was a legal trick as the decision to allow it proof to be presented or did not pressure the court which, in effect, refused to allow it. Apple will challenge the ban for now so that the decision will not have immediate effect until the court considers the appeal. Meanwhile the two companies are continuing their vigorous legal battle against other courts in Germany (and around the world) with Qualcomm’s arguments centered on other patents related to the software used in iOs and Apple requiring targeted changes to German iPhones that delete the infringements.
