The actress Amparo Martí was born on September 9, 1903 in Valencia.
Amparo went on stage at a very early age, with only 8 years old, performing the play “La paloma y el milano”. This precociousness was mainly due to the fact that he was born into a family in which many of its members were already actors.
Later he went through several companies, some of them very prestigious, such as those of Pedro Zorrilla, María Mayor or Ricardo Calvo. He also worked for a long time at the Infanta Isabel Theater. At this time the actress performed a large number of works on stage, most of them belonging to notable playwrights, such as Carlos Arniches, Pedro Muñoz Seca or the Álvarez Quintero brothers.
In the 1940s, she formed her own theatrical company, and she did it together with her husband, the also well-known actor at that time, Francisco Pierrá.
Subsequently, Amparo began to work at the Lara Theater, where he obtained a great number of successes, as with the representation of “To love you have to send him to school”, the first one that he represents with this company, and in which he acts together with the actors Mary Carrillo and Rafael Rivelles. Amparo spent 13 years working at Lara.
During her professional career, the actress has participated in so many plays and productions that it would be difficult to list them all. As an example we will highlight some such as “War criminal”, “Quiet as dead”, “The wall”, “The luminous wound”, “Aurelia and her men” or “The skylight”.
The actress, although she was always dedicated to the theater, made some foray into the cinema, of whose work, although it is not very extensive, we can highlight some titles such as “La tonta del barco”, “Currito de la Cruz” or “Educating Dad ”.
Among the awards and recognitions that the actress received during her career, it is worth mentioning the Valladolid Gold Medal for her work in the play “To love you have to send him to school”.
Amparo Martí died on May 3, 1973 in Madrid.
