Adobe Takes Down Two-Year

Adobe Takes Down Two-Year Old Reddit Guide for Pirating Adobe CC ByNitish Singh-December 22, 2018 “2/2.559.jpg” Last week, Adobe downloaded a piracy guide for its Adobe CC app suite which led Redditors to question the decision of the company. Back in 2016 the guide ‘ Pirating Adobe CC for Dummies ‘ was posted and attracted thousands of readers. The guide had been removed after Adobe filed an official takedown notice. Guides are available on the internet for just about anything but some of them delve into grey areas such as piracy. This naturally draws the attention of copyright holders and law enforcement authorities. Adobe now lodged a copyright claim on a two-year-old guide available on Reddit. The Reddit guide has been helping users hack Adobe CC. TorrentFreak contacted attorneys to clarify the validity of the removal and it was discovered that the tutorial alone is definitely illegal and falls under “contributory infringement.” The tutorial maker may be held liable for copyright infringement even if he or she may not have pirated the program. The Reddit moderators who took the guide down did not reveal whether Adobe formally filed the complaint themselves or whether there was behind the takedown a representing anti-piracy outfits similar to Software Alliance. However, the guide’s author has the legal right to challenge the company’s copyright infringement claims of the guide. The creator of the guide is unlikely to file a legal claim against Adobe, as it is more than likely that he or she wants to remain anonymous. The software company also has its side to the law and finances.
