The famous artist named Vincent van Gogh was born on March 30, 1853 in Zundert, Holland.
This man from his childhood was very temperamental, unfortunately he always sought his death. His fondness for painting awakens since school, since although he was not a good student, his dedication was fully to painting. At this time his teachers tell him that he would not become a professional because he did not know how to paint, Vincent never gives in to his desire, and he prepares with some relatives who are experts on the subject.
Upon returning from that kind of high school, Vincent becomes obsessed with the Bible and awakens in him a desire to become a theologian, for which he studies at the University of Leiden. And because of these desires, he wants to become a missionary, to which he is many times rejected due to his lack of languages, until the opportunity arrives and he leaves as such for the Borinage mines, in Belgium. He stayed there for a year and a few months, until he was left with practically nothing, absorbed in religion, which caused him fear.
After a time, convinced by his own ideals, he goes to London with the aim of setting up a hospice for children together with an English pastor who would bring him a small benefit. Faced with a resounding change in attitude, he decides to move away from this environment and goes to The Hague, where he meets Temple, a prostitute whom he feels sorry for and ends up being his muse. But unfortunately it is from her, from whom he not only gets inspiration, but also gives him gonorrhea and syphilis.
Already recovered, Vincent discovers that he is only a healthy being when he paints, so he decides to resume the same, and in 1880 a new stage begins, in which he paints regularly and begins with portraits of peasants, standing out from among them. “The potato eaters”.
A few years later he moved with his brother to Paris, where he not only made friends with other painters, but also met Émile Bernard, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and Paul Gauguin, becoming great friends with them. Before long, he created an artists’ workshop in his home, called The yellow house, Vincent’s favorite color. He lives and works with Gauguin for years, but Vincent’s mental disorders did not allow him to last long enough, so much so that he not only tries to attack Gauguin with a knife, but he has been the one who finds Van Gogh bleeding after having amputated one ear, which he supposedly wanted to give away.
Finally, his last years are marked by his permanent mental problems, which lead him to confine himself in mental sanatoriums on a voluntary basis. In one of the sanatoriums where he frequents, in the Saint Rémy de Provence sanatorium, a room is enabled for him to continue painting, and here his frenetic artistic life begins where he is inspired by Vincent RembrandtAnd this is how Vincent during the last thirty months of his life painted 500 works and in his last 69 days he signed 79 paintings.
Finally, on July 27 comes its sad end, when Van Gogh goes out for a walk in the field, shoots himself with a firearm in the chest, and returns to his room to die two days later, leaving the painting called “Los Crows “.
This famous artist produced all his work, estimated at some 900 paintings and 1,100 drawings, over a period of only 10 years, his influence on Expressionism, Fauvism and the principles of abstractionism being enormous. Several of his works are today among the most expensive paintings in the world.
Among his most famous works are “The Starry Night”, “Sunflowers”, “The Potato Eaters”, “Almond Blossom”, “Lilies” and some of his famous self-portraits such as the one made with the ear bandage cut.
