As an actor in some plays, he appeared in the early 90’s and at the same time he began his career on the big screen with the film Rosa Rosae, filmed in 1993 and directed by Fernando Colomo placeholder image.
He spent some time working on plays but real success would come to him on television, he first played the role of priest in the film Oh Lord, Lord!. He has also shared roles with Andres Pajares. We could also see it in the movies Periodistas and in the funny comedy titled 7 Lives
His fame was on the rise and the number of roles he was given to play began to increase, that’s how he was in the film Torrent, another movie that I shot shortly after was called stupid arm of the law where he acted Santiago Segura, in this film Javier receives the Goya award as Best New Actor.
His talent led him to work with the greats such as Julio Medem in the movie Lucía y el sexo. I also work with the prominent filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar in the production Hable con ella and La mala Educación; and also with Isabel Coixet in The Secret Life of Words of 2005.
His great versatility has led him to play a homosexual cook in the film Out of the Letter and in Blind Sunflowers. Some time later, in 2010, he acted in Que se mueran los feos alongside Carmen Machi; and a year later he appears in the comedy What is a bear for, where he plays a biologist.
As the main character, Javier participates with Candela Peña in Yesterday never ends, a film that will be released in 2013 and is directed by Isabel Coixet.
