He is a Spanish writer. He did his first studies at school Our Lady of Loreto. Also at school Marist Brothers. He studied law and then, in 1965, he went to Europe. Also, thanks to a scholarship, he traveled to London. Returning in 1967 and dedicating himself to his career as a lawyer.
He wrote his first novel The truth about the Savolta case, which was published in 1975, when he was residing in the United States. This work where various discourses and narrative styles are evidenced takes him out of anonymity.
It is also considered as a democratic transition, where the worldview of the union struggles of the early twentieth century is described and pointing out the social, cultural and economic reality of Barcelona at that time.
After the publication of that novel he dies Francisco Franco, and a year later The Truth About the Savolta case was awarded the Critics Award.
Among other works that he basted are The mystery of the haunted crypt (1979), which is a parody where the black novel is combined with the gothic one, and stigmatizes the beginning of a trilogy that gives life to a particular character, who is a detective arrested in a madhouse.
Also excels The labyrinth of the olives (1982), which establishes him as one of the most successful writers. Then he returns to Mendoza the following year and dedicates himself to carrying out translations for entities worldwide.
Public The city of prodigies in 1986, which is a novel in which the social evolution of Barcelona is evident, and cataloged by critics as his best achievement. And it was in 1999 that it was brought to the big screen for Mario camus, having as main characters Emma Suarez Y Olivier Martinez.
He also had his foray into the theater, where he participated in the play Restoration at the Romea Theater, Barcelona; also later he himself translated it into Spanish. His debut was in Madrid. Then, in 1990, he released in El PaĆs No news from gurb. And in the same way in 2001, publishes The last journey of Horacio Dos.
Eduardo Mendoza in 2010, continued with his literary works, but with the pseudonym of Ricardo Medina, where he was awarded the 59th edition of the Planeta Prize, presenting the work Cat fight, Madrid, 1936.
