Dominique Wilkins was born on January 12, 1960 in Paris, France.
He played at Georgea University until being selected in the 1982 Draft by the Utah Jazz. Without actually playing with that team, he was traded to the Atlanta Hawks.
In his 11, he had careers with the Angeles Clippers, Boston Celtics and Panathinaikos of Greece, Fortitudo of Italy and then the San Antonio Spurs and Orlando Magics.
“Nique” was an important player for the Hawks in the 1980s, when the team averaged more than 50 victories during each season of that decade.
When Wilkins turned 30, his team began to lose quite a few games, since they did not play as before.
He finally retired in 1999 wearing the Orlando Magics jersey.
He was a 9-time All-Star, won the NBA dunk contest twice and has scored 26,668 points and 7,169 rebounds in his entire NBA playing career.
His dueling contests against Michael Jordan were considered the best duels in history.
His jersey was retired with the number 21 in January 2001, being one of the 3 players with a retired number by the Atlanta Hawks.
