Gerard McSorley – Biography of Gerard McSorley

Gerard mcsorley born 1950 in Country Tyrone, Northern Ireland; after starting his studies at the Christian Brothers School in his hometown, he attended the St. Columb’s College in Derry. Later he studied at the Queen’s University Belfast, where one of his teachers was the winner of the Pulitzer Prize, Seamus heaney.

McSorley developed much of his career in the theater, mainly in the Abbey Theater from Dublin.

After playing Michael Evans in the original productions of London’s West End and in Broadway, of the work “Dancing at Lughnasa“In the early 90’s, the Irish actor began to feel more attracted to television and movies.

He appeared in numerous Hollywood films, including “Braveheart“(1995), where his character is beheaded and”In the name of the Father“(1993).
His other film credits include the films “Michael collins” (nineteen ninety six), “The Serpent’s Kiss“(1997),”The Boxer“(1998),”The loyal gardener“(2005) and the film by Joel schumacherTown creek“(2009).

In 2009 he joined the cast of the series “The Tudors“, in his third season. There he plays Robert Aske, leader of a group of rebels from the north of England, in disagreement with the economic and social policies of King Henry VIII (Jonathan Rhys Meyers).

In his personal life, McSorley is divorced from Ann Harrison Richie, with whom he had three children. He currently resides in Gweedore, County Donegal, Northern Ireland.
