Sonja williams is an American actress, born in Newport News, Virginia.
Before beginning his professional career, he changed his name to Sonja sohn (mother’s maiden name) because her father disapproved of the idea of her becoming an actress.
I study in the Warwick High School, in which she was an entertainer. Thanks to her performance, she won the award for the most popular girl in school. Later, he studied poetry at the Brooklyn College.
In 1996, she took her first acting step in the drama titled “Work“, Written and directed by Rachel Reichman. From then on, he was part of several projects in the same genre, such as “Slam“, in which he shared a screen with Saul williams, “Shaft: The Return“,”To the limit“,”Fragrance“, the Romantic movie”G“made of Jennifer on “The Killing Zone“and was part of the cast of”Step Up 2: The Streets“, which starred Robert Hoffman Y Briana evigan. Between 2002 and 2008, he was part of the cast of the series “The Wire“, in which he played the Detective Shakima ‘Kima’ Greggs. He also made of Toni Halstead in 5 chapters of “Cold case“and worked on the drama”Brothers & Sisters“, where he played Trish evans. In 2010, he made a small participation in “The Good Wife“, and since 2011 she can be seen in the role of the Det. Samantha baker on “Body of Proof”.
Regarding his personal life, in 2003 he married Adam plack. Together they currently live with the two children that the actress had in a previous marriage.
Besides dedicating himself to acting and writing, Sonja is a fervent political supporter in favor of the social reintegration of criminals, being one of the founders of “Baltimore-based reWIRED for Change“. In 2008, he participated in the campaign of Barack Obama for his coming to power.
