The other – Movie The other

American production belonging to the horror genre, “The Other” is a film directed, in 1972, by Robert Mulligan, based on the novel of the same title by the writer Tom Tryon, who himself took care of adapting the script.

The feature film, which can be described as psychological horror, had a cast of actors including Uta Hagen, Diana Muldaur and Chris Udvarnoky.

The action of the film takes place in the year 1936, when a pair of twins, Niles and Holland Perry, are playing near the family farm, a few days after the death of their father in an accident in the basement of Niles carries a box with various objects inside, including a ring his grandfather gave him and something wrapped in wax paper.

It is, according to many, the most perverse portrait that has been made of childhood. The world of the children protagonists is a terrifying and chilling world, in which the real is not distinguished from the unreal. Childhood itself is a real nightmare on film.
