The writer Ana María Navales Viruete was born in the city of Zaragoza in 1939.
From an early age, he felt a great literary vocation, and, after finishing his secondary studies, he enrolled at the University of Zaragoza, where he graduated in Philosophy and Letters, obtaining a doctorate shortly after.
She worked as a professor of Hispanic American Literature at the same university where she had studied, at the same time she was writing.
In 1970 he published his first book of poetry, entitled “In the words”, editing the second after three years, “Next to the last skin”.
In 1975 he published a new poetic work, “Rthese of sealing wax and remnants of vigils“, And in 1976 a short story, called”Two boys tucked in a blue envelope”.
In 1977 he founded a magazine dedicated to poetry, which bears the name of “Albaida“, Which was published until 1979. At this time he released other of his poetry works,”From the secret fire”, With which he won the San Jorge Prize, and“Mester of love”, With which he is awarded the second prize for the Adonais Prize.
Already consecrated as a writer, Ana María Navales continues to write, especially poetry, among whose works not cited we can highlight others such as “The lips of the moon“,”You will find another sea“,”Swell“,”Written in silence“,”What life hides“Or”Crossing of time“, among other.
He also wrote several short stories, such as “Koto the Japanese doll“,”Zechariah, king“Or”Tales from the two shores”.
Navales was also the author of several novels, including “The afternoon of the seagulls”, “My aunt elsa“Or”The Mandarin Mistress”.
She was one of the greatest scholars of Virginia Wolf’s work, writing an essay on the subject, such as “Women of their words: from Virginia Wolf to Nadine Gordimer”.
Among other things, she was director of the literature section of the Instituto de Estudios Turolenses, as well as co-director of the magazine “Turia”, Dedicated to cultural issues.
In 2001 he was awarded the Aragonese Literature Prize.
Ana María Navales died on May 11, 2009 in the town of Borja, in the province of Zaragoza.
