WhatsApp Officially to Remove Support for Hundreds of Smartphones in 2019 WhatsApp released an official statement revealing: “The decision was taken because we will no longer be actively developing these apps and some features could stop working at any time. Looking ahead to our next seven years we are looking to focus our efforts on the mobile platforms that are used by a vast majority of people. Such platforms / phones are not providing the kind of capabilities that WhatsApp needs in the future to extend its functionality. WhatsApp is able to focus its attention on new content and functionality by ceasing access to older devices and platforms. Although Nokia’s S40 platform will lose access to WhatsApp after iOs 7 apps lose support in February 2020 after December 31st 2018. If your iPhone supports a newer Os version, you can update it before you lose access to the messaging app. Providing support for obsolete sites that do not actively use wastes not only the development resources of WhatsApp but pose security risks as well. Updates to the mobile operating system not only bring new features but also critical security updates which older devices miss. Use older systems or computers often leads users to skip the new features of WhatsApp which are not compatible with older hardware.
