Michelle Kapusta More Articles January 14 2020 By now everyone has learned that Prince Harry and Meghan Duchess of Sussex have agreed to take a step back from royal life and will no longer be “senior royals.” Although we may never know every aspect that led to their decision, we do know that the couple were not at all pleased with the reporting and reports they saw from B. Some of the tabloids blacked out distorted and hurtful stories about the duchess but she wasn’t the first female royal to go through this. Here’s how the press treated Meghan when contrasted with what Princess Diana and Sarah Ferguson had to endure. That kind of violence is nothing new though as it is something that Diana and Fergie have witnessed years before Meghan arrived.

On her wedding day, Ferguson became the Duchess of York, a title given to her by Queen Elizabeth II. She began to struggle with her weight at one point during her marriage and started eating binge. The press called her the Duchess of Pork after she put on extra pounds. Years later Ferguson commented on that time in her life and how she was so affected by the violence from the media outlets. “I used to it now, but it’s very damaging of the spirit,” she said. “One of the worst reports said 82 percent chose to sleep with a goat rather than Fergie. It was never far from me. I do believe many people believe what they read in the 30 years of my public life.

Photogs used to track and stalk the princess relentlessly as she was married to Prince Charles and as they split this continued. Although no one knew what the end result would be the night of the Paris car chase the danger should not have been overlooked because there was the chance.
