Density plays a major role in this cut as it will decide how you treat the form. The hair of my client is thick, so it was cut like a pixie because I wanted a shape that was leaner. I’d probably cut it like a layered bob for someone with less density. It would be best to wear this cut straight and wavy. This is a high style of grooming so I would recommend it style only to someone who has time for their hair and uses a decent amount of hair product. We used a heat-protector cream at the root in the mid-shafts through ends for blow drying, then pomade and a textured spray to finish. The next move is to curl with either 1-inch or 1 1/4-inch hot iron curling devices which change curl direction to produce unkempt but uniform waves. I used a dry shampoo at the roots until twisted and joined out to the ends. I love dry shampoo from TIGI Dirty Secret. This adds texture, but has no gritty feeling. It also provides consistency of thickness and some stay when dragging out another day or two of your hairstyle. Using the Wet Brush Speed Dry Brush I rake through the curls to smooth and blend them as the dry shampoo is applied from root to end. What would you describe this look and what’s your favorite thing about it? I’d say it’s an edgy look and it suits her personality. Thanks to the silver paint I gave her during the summer, she did her own color at home. The effect is this shiny mauve with a shadow base when it grew up and faded. I figured the accident was pretty cool and I put it into action for the break. I love the way it came together! I’m trying to use her fine hair with minimal products. I used Lanza Trauma Treatment mainly at the ends while her hair was damp. As you can see, she’s got some damage. For protection, I sprayed a little Redken Pillow Proof and then dried it off the scalp for volume. I ironed her hair slightly flat on low heat for a sleeker feel. For the strays, we added a little pomade and finished the look with Redken’s very lightweight fast drying hairspray. What kind of customer do you suggest this look for? I feel like this hairstyle can be worn by anyone. I love all the lengths and textures of a decent angled bob. It may not be for everyone to clean and go. Some of them may have to work harder to achieve the look they want. How much time they are willing to commit to styling their hair is really up to the person. Remember, if you have a wider / rounder face to allow more length to elongate in the front (below the chin). Other than that, with your hair, have fun! Play it and be open-minded.
