My client is a singer who performs live regularly, so I decided to play her game. I offered her a new punk-rock style for the slice, but much softer and more feminine than that of the 1980s. To give her an illusion of depth, I lightened her hair to a platinum blonde and produced a shadow core. I used the light color of the lavender at the roots and left the rest of the platinum hair. This provided a dark-to-light shadow look. I always draw inspiration from nature and use the mother of pearls to inspire me in this case. It’s really one of my favorite variations of colors. Any woman can pull off this look as long as her face shape and skin tone selects the cut and color properly. It’s also important to have inner confidence and sit down to pull off this look as it’s a head-turner for sure. My customer also enjoys wearing decorative hairpins (the current version of pearls and rhinestones) to tie the upper mohawk sideways. It provides a very feminine look at the city for an evening date or night out for women. It’s easy to wear this cut and color almost a wash-and-go fashion. Shorter haircuts in the morning are so fun and easy to do, but their maintenance (depending on each guest) may vary. I have short hair and I tend to have more frequently trimmed hair than most haircuts. Pixies are fun and easy to style, and they’re so versatile, but somebody on the go can have more maintenance. I always ask questions about their lifestyle to my guests. How often do you want to be in the living room? Were you prepared to invest in your daily trims? Short hair is an undertaking, but at some point I hope everyone should explore. You should try fun colors or undercuts / designs, and it’s fun as it’s going to grow again. Short hairstyles like this, depending on the guest and how much they can handle hair growth, will need to be cleaned up about every 4-8 weeks. Consider about what it will take to retain the cut or color for a shorter haircut like this. If you’re willing to change and want to leap into the realm of pixies, go for it.
