My Chemical Romance – Biography of My Chemical Romance

My Chemical Romance (“My Chemical Romance” in Spanish) is an American band formed by Gerard way, Mikey way, Ray toro, Frank Iero Y Bob bryar. The group’s name was suggested by Mikey way and it is due to a book written by Irvine Welsh called “Ecstasy: three tales of chemical romance”.

It all started in 2001, when Gerard way He proposed to form a band to his high school friend Matt pelissier . From then on, they began to compose songs together. His first theme was “Skylines and Turnstiles“, written by Gerard while living in New York and inspired by the attack on the Twin Towers of September 11.

For this reason they decided to continue with the project. After a while they called the guitarist Ray toro to be integrated with them, because Gerard I admired the way he played Ray.

Mikey way, brother of Gerard, found out about this new project and wanted to join the band. For this reason, he dropped out of school and dedicated himself to learning to play the bass.

In 2002, they signed with the independent label Eyeball Records to record his first album titled “I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love“Being released July of that same year.

The project began to be recorded in the same room where the bands were working. Thursday Y Pencey Prep; it was then that Frank Iero, vocalist and guitarist of Pencey Prep, He became interested in the band and joined it, after his group broke up due to a conflict with the keyboardist.

On June 8, 2004, the band began to work on their second album with a more mature and consolidated style, this time under the label of Reprise / Warner. The album was called “Three Cheers For Sweet Reveng“.

It was during this stage that the band replaced their former drummer. Matt pelissier for Bob bryar in August 2004. The reasons, apparently were the discussions of Matt with Ray toro, also possibly for being accused of burning down the group’s van.

On March 21, 2006 it was released for sale “Life on the Murder Scene“This is the band’s first DVD, which includes their history from the beginning, and the second brings the music videos, the making of their videos and live performances.

On October 23 of that same year, the band released their third studio album worldwide “The Black Parade“. They declared to the press that with this new album they feel like a new band, bringing with it a change of look of the members, especially that of Gerard. They also said that this was the album they wanted to be remembered for.

In 2006, My Chemical Romance and his vocalist Gerard way were awarded in various categories by the magazine Kerrang!, including also his album “The Black Parade ” among the 4 best. Besides the magazine Rolling stone it assigned the CD the 20th position on its list of the 50 best albums.

When the band started the World Tour “The Black Parade” they integrated James Dewees from Reggie and the Full Effect to play the keyboard / synthesizer.

The quintet has sold more than 10 million copies around the world, making it one of the most influential bands of the first decade of the 21st century.
