5 Amazing Brazilian films to do with the OlympicsBrendan Morrow 21 September 2017 Dan Harmon, co-creator of Rick and Morty, is speaking out against Internet trolls which have abused the female writers of this season’s series. A few new female authors were recruited for Season 3 of Rick and Morty, including Jane Becker and Jessica Gao. Some viewers were disappointed with the new episodes and so they attacked these writers, accusing them of destroying the show and publishing online their personal data. Dan Harmon said he found this absolutely disgusting in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly. “These knobs that want to protect the material they think they own-and somehow combine that with their need to be proud of something they have that is often just their race or gender,” he said. “… I haven’t made any bones about those men I loathe. This socks f*cking. And the only thing I can say is if you’re lucky enough to do a series that’s really successful that this means some bad people will like it too. They can’t just insist that everyone watching the show get their heads straight. “Harmon also said that these online trolls” reflect some sh*t that I probably believed when I was 15 “and that they are part of a” subculture focused on testosterone patting themselves on the back for trolling these people. “He added that online hate isn’t even rational because it’s not as if the women were in the show. The way a show like Rick and Morty works is that the whole staff works together through the season, sharing ideas and jokes about stories and then a particular writer takes all of that and assembles it into a script. It’s not like that writer was sitting in a room and having come up with the whole episode itself. It’s utter misunderstanding about how Harmon said writing a TV series works. It’s frustrating enough to see threads like Oh well this episode was written by Andy Bobrow because when Hilary Winston wrote her episode she tends to focus more on conversation and Andy is better at the moments I-want-to-hold-you. And I’d like to yell at my computer: we’re all writing the series together, you fools! “Dan Harmon mentioned the fact that during this interview he read a Reddit thread detailing some of the issues surrounding the abuse of women writers during Season 3. The comment on Reddit was posted back in August after having aired two episodes written by Jane Becker and Jessica Gao. The comment was written by the moderator elastical gomez /r / RickAndMorty who said they were working on the series in season 1. “Some people threatened and harassed RM’s female writers all because they didn’t care about the past few episodes in particular,” wrote elastical gomez. “It goes without saying that whatever you think about the show that sort of behavior is sh*tty and inciting more abuse of these people is not tolerated on the subreddit.” Rick and Morty l Adult Swim “It’s feeling like a genuine degree of addiction dealing with me that actually has negative effects on my real life demeanor / relationships” Harmon wrote. Rick and Morty are about to end their 3rd season. The penultimate episode “Beth’s ABC’s” will air on September 24, while the “Rickchurian Mortydate” finale will air on October 1.
