But that doesn’t mean she’s mad about the raper itself. The Fashion Nova designer has made it clear in a later tweet that there is no beef between her and Scott. Mind you, when it came out I promoted Astroworld myself on my page, and have a good relationship with Trav,” she noted. The author is known for his distinctive cinematic style that often focuses on manipulating the human bodyAs noted by IMDb Cronenberg’s unconventional themes and tendency to gory stomach-churning special effects have led some fans and critics to call him Venereal Horror King. While Cronenberg’s more recent films like 2012’s Cosmopolis and 2014’s Maps to the Stars have been less grisly and more psychological in tone, with his unorthodox take on everything from virtual reality to Carl Jung, the filmmaker is still known for surprising viewers. That’s why we figured it would be a good time to take a look at some of the most twisted movies of this talented director. Here are seven films by author David Cronenberg that should be seen by any film fan.

[h2]3. Videodrome (1983)

Cronenberg’s prescient analysis of the impact television can have on people’s perception of reality is as relevant today as it was 30 years ago, although the extensive use of Betamax tapes in this film makes it an unmistakable artifact of the 1980s. Starring James Woods and Deborah Harry of Blondie’s fame the movie tells the story of a television producer who has increasingly bizarre visions after watching a violent underground TV show. Like many of Cronenberg’s plays, Videodrome includes a number of visually disturbing scenes that demonstrate the combination of mechanical and biological elements including a breathing television set and a pistol that develops into a hand of character. Rotten Tomatoes approval rating of 80 per cent from critics. 4. The Fly (1986)

Although this film is loosely based on a short story of the same name, Cronenberg put his distinctive thematic stamp on this horror film about a scientist who, when experimenting with a matter transporter, accidentally merges his body with that of a housefly. Not surprisingly, as the scientist slowly transforms into a human-fly hybrid insect, the film features several repulsive body horror scenes. Starring Jeff Goldblum as the ill-fated scientist and Geena Davis as his love interest according to Rotten Tomatoes ‘ 91 per cent fresh rating certified by the critics.

Clearly based on a novel by the same name by William S. Burroughs, Cronenberg’s film merges material taken from the book with real events from Burroughs ‘ life. The film critics were well received by Starring Peter Weller of Robocop’s fame Cronenberg’s re-imagination of Burroughs ‘ classic novel amid its strange and nonsensical storyline involving multiple hallucinogenic drugs and giant speaking insects. However, despite the incomprehensibility and bizarreness of the source material, it seems this was precisely what Cronenberg intended. 6.

Like Videodrome and other Cronenberg films, eXistenZ (1999)

features several strange scenes that are unmistakably Cronenberg-esque, including a sequence in which a character assembles a tooth shooting gun from the bones of a mutated animal. Although the film was a commercial flop it received mostly positive reviews from the critics and in the years since its release it has steadily acquired cultic status. 7.

Eastern Promises (2007)

Cronenberg’s second feature-length film, Viggo Mortensen, tells the story of a midwife played by Naomi Watts who accidentally gets caught up in the machinations of the London mafia. While the film includes some unforgettable graphic violence scenes, it mostly reflects Cronenberg’s later works style by concentrating more on psychological themes such as identity and salvation rather than paranormal science and technology-related themes. Unlike other Cronenberg films, however, this crime thriller contains its fair share of mind-bending plot twists. IMDb right now. @ArnoldEtan WSCS
